About robinpdf

Hi — I'm Roberto, an independent developer in Spain. robinpdf is a one-person project. There's no company behind it, no team and no investors: just me, and one conviction I couldn't shake.

Why I built it

I needed to merge two PDFs. Every tool I found wanted me to upload them to a server I knew nothing about. Read the small print on those sites and it usually says the same thing: your file is uploaded, stored "temporarily", and deleted "within a few hours". You're asked to take that on trust.

For holiday photos, fine. For a contract, a payslip, a medical report or a scan of your ID, it isn't. You shouldn't have to hand your private documents to a stranger's server just to merge two files. So I built the version I wanted to use.

Nothing is uploaded — and you can check that yourself

Every tool on robinpdf runs inside your browser. Your files are opened, processed and saved on your own device. They are never sent anywhere: not to my servers, not to anyone else's.

Plenty of sites promise privacy. The difference here is that you don't have to believe me — you can prove it in about ten seconds:

That's the whole point of building it this way. It isn't a privacy policy asking for trust; it's an architecture that makes the promise verifiable.

To be precise about one thing: a couple of tools — OCR and password protection — download a processing engine the first time you use them, so those need a connection to get going. That's program code coming down to your browser. It is never your file going up.

What that means in practice

How it stays free

robinpdf is free and I intend to keep it that way. It's paid for by unobtrusive advertising. Ads are the only third-party code on the site, and they never see your documents — your files are simply never part of any network request.

If robinpdf is useful to you, sharing it is the best support there is.
